This is Mix Entry One in a Two Part Recognition of one of the Coldest Musicians in the business today!

PEVEN EVERETT

I threw down a selection of uptempto*House*Soulful songs and instrumentals out of Peven's over 30 album and singles catalog.

If you think you have a few of his releases and want more, you have a lot of homework to catch up on.

I first heard "One More Time" @ Bobbito's nite @ APT in 2002 and I picked that single up. Shortly after, Peven did two shows in L.A.: one at as an in-store at Amoeba Music and later that night at The Knitting Factory on Hollywood Blvd. Being frugal, I peeped his acoustic set with Larry Billups on percussion at the In-store. Andre3000 was the only other brother I recognized in the store and one of the only other folks paying attention. I thought it was a cool showing, but I fronted on the show later that night.

From what I heard, Peven tore a new skylight out in the Knitting Factory and it wasn't until a few months later that I just so happened to catch him at SOBs in Manhattan and ever since, I've been a fan and collector of his releases.

His live shows are not to be missed. He throws down an all impromptu jam covering his hits and showcasinghis dexterity on a range of instruments.

This mix here, is a dedication to Peven and fans of his uptempo works.

I'll follow this up with a mix of his R&B styles and hopefully will convert a few naysayers.

Until then . . .Salaams!
